Create Positive Change

Thought for the Day

Creating Positive Change

From my office high above the now blustery beach in Coogee, I am watching with awe the dramatic change of season. The winds are whipping up the white capped waves. The rain and the temperature drops are sudden and unpredictable. From here I receive calls and emails from the USA & UK describing warming weather, planter boxes and spring cleaning.

Whether Southern or Northern Hemisphere, there is preparation to be done for the season to come. Be it trimming the dead wood and creating a warm, comfortable home for Winter or creating fertile ground and encouraging healthy growth in the Spring, there’s a “nose to the grindstone” mentality where productive busy-ness and good preparation creates the time and space to put the feet up and reap the benefits in Winter and Summer.

Whenever there is a time of change in our lives we experience stress on some level. Sometimes we attempt to resist the change – a futile act! Imagine fighting the change of season.

Stress occurs until the brain learns to adapt. This can take moments or years. Think of some of the changes you have experienced in life: moving from childhood to adolescence, moving house, going on a diet, changing jobs or partner, learning new skills – they all incurred stress until you learnt to adapt.

With kinesiology/ neuro-training we are assisting the brain to adapt more easily and to find the most positive change in all circumstances. Positive change is about assisting you to make choices that are in support of you and your goals.

These days, everyone seems to be working hard. Those clients I’ve seen are seeking better results for the effort they put into life, and to achieve it more easily. That’s where working with positive change comes in. Sounds good, huh?

To support yourself through times of change and to ensure you are healthy to enjoy the coming season:

  • Make time for a personal kinesiology consultation to assist the flow of positive change in your life and adapt to the changes in your life more easily.

  • The head holding and breathing technique (in the attached pdf) is a wonderful way to keep yourself in present time, focused and calm. It also allows you to “take stock”, to assess what you are doing and to find the easiest, most efficient way to get there.

  • Keeping yourself well hydrated will keep stress at bay and your brain functioning effectively.

  • Nourish yourself with foods of the season and clothe yourself appropriately – “keep those kidneys covered!” can be the mantra to those going into Winter to preserve your energy. Keep the fabrics natural and flowing to those moving into Summer will allow your skin to breathe.

  • Listen and act upon your inner voice. Spend time in nature. Speak kindly to yourself.
