It’s ALL About Being Inspired!
Today’s Quote
“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.”
– Dale Carnegie
It’s ALL About Being Inspired!
Breathe……
I made the time to do some gardening last weekend…a long overdue task on my To Do list and something I had mostly avoided since Autumn. While focussing on the drudgery I had forgotten how much I enjoy playing with dirt and plants…creating a new vision (literally) for the future.
There I was sweeping, pulling out dead snapdragons, sowing basil and parsley seeds in their place, striking geraniums and transplanting aloe vera. It all seemed to have a perfect harmony and flow to it. I was cleaning up the old to make way for my vision of the new. A lot like the context of Recuperation….
Then I eyed my nemesis…the bougainvillea, and smiled with joy and anticipation. For 3 summers I have waited for it to flower, nurtured it, fed it, watered and talked encouragingly to it (naturally!) which certainly helped it to grow into a healthy, strong plant – but still no flowers. Smiling, I wondered whether THIS would be the summer it finally flowered.
Then I realised it had nothing to do with me, it was entirely between the plant and Nature.
At that moment, I heard a friend’s voice in my head, a voice from long ago explaining the value of patience and divine timing, “Deb, it is good you think positively and do all this positive work. It is also important to remember that no matter how hard you will and visualise it, the sun will never rise before it is ready. ”
When something doesn’t go according to plan, we sometimes think it is all out fault, that we did something “wrong”, when it is part of the ebb and flow of life.
We need to learn the value of ‘Letting Go’…create a vision, do the preparation and ground work, nurture and feed the new growth and weed out the negative thoughts, limiting beliefs and destructive patterns (the brain likes de-weeding every 6-8weeks) and continue to move forward as if it has already become reality…THEN step back and let life take it and run with it. That is the foundation to Living Life Passionately and living life with love, commitment and purpose.
I contemplated all this and more as the afternoon sun began to fade…and began to think about the workshops and events in the month ahead, looking for the context, the jigsaw puzzle where they fall into place and I found it…each start by clearing the old misperceptions and limiting beliefs to make room for the new. I have always focussed on providing processes that could be used in daily life to remove the blocks as they appear and create the clarity in moving forward, easily and gently and this too is a common thread to all.
My vision and intention for each student in each workshop has only been matched (and some!) by the students desire to draw the best from their learning experience. It constantly astounds me the results this intention creates.
Then there comes a point when, I let go of all perceived outcomes and watch the student and the new learning dance, then integrate – that’s when the blossoming really occurs and the fruits begin to form in the way they then live their life.
“ On June 12, 2005, in his commencement address to Stanford’s graduating class, Steve Jobs revealed:
“When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: ‘If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.’ It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.” Jobs…provocative questions (slightly altered) that he posed to the world in his 2005 commencement address were:
Have you found “what you love” to do in life?
Are you wasting your life “living someone else’s?”
Do you “have the courage to follow your heart and intuition?”
Are you nurturing a “great relationship,” one that “just gets better and better as the years roll on?”
Do you tell “your kids everything you thought you’d have the next 10 years to tell them in just a few months” or days?
Do you make “sure everything is buttoned up so that it will be as easy as possible for your family” when “the single best invention of Life” takes its toll?
Do you say “your goodbyes” before it’s too late to say them? “
This quote comes from an RSS feed from http://hbr.org/ (Harvard Business Review) …when I read this I realised Job’s questions form part of the solid framework for all the work I do, whether in clinic, workshops or classes….helping you find Your unique answers to the hard questions and assist you to live them.
Why all the events in September? Spring is about new beginnings…Ignite Your Heart 1 this Sunday is the final IYH1 for 2011…it was truly inspired with the intention to further open the hearts of participants to meet the higher thinking and influence of 2012, and will return in February next year. It has evolved from being a workshop about finding healthy relationships to become a passport to knowing your true self, communicating your authentic self, by becoming your own best friend you become your greatest resource and can develop and enjoy true and quality relationships.
Spring is about new beginnings…we ride the wave of the Spring Equinox with the Grads Event and Coffee and Chat (wooohooo!), and A Spirited Life workshop on September 17 and 18…a highly energetic time to make vision a reality.
Clearing the old and planting the seeds for the new becomes reality on Saturday September 24 with Day 1 of Living Life Passionately, as we learn to change our old metaphors, our ‘old story’ of who we are, where we are going, what we believe and how we behave to create our own NEW unique way of doing life.
Albert Einstein is often quoted as saying “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”….NOW is the time to turn around, away from the wall you keep hitting your head on and discover a whole NEW way of looking at and LIVING Your Life.
Or were you planning on putting it off a little while longer? Now that’s insanity!
So, it seems with this amount of inspiration, in between appointments and workshops I’ll be spending a whole lot more time in the garden…maybe it’s time to inspire that book!
Looking forward to seeing you in an appointment, workshop or event soon.
All the best always,
Deb
A Thankyou and Update from band Kids At Risk
A Note from Band Manager Monique Rothstein “After a period of uncertainty as to whether KIDS AT RISK would actually be going to the USA, off they went on a jet plane. They rocked the world’s largest comic convention in San Diego, blew the walls down at Johnny Depp’s live music venue, The Viper Room in LA and won the hearts of many in New York. A huge thank you from the KIDS to all who visualised them in the US.. Now, if you could please visualise them getting out of debt from spending WAY too much money at Guitarcentre on Sunset Boulevard…”
Deb says: I was thrilled to see that Griff the Invisible is now on DVD at JB HiFi AND the CD inspired by the movie by Kids At Risk (they did the soundtrack) is in store too! Bravo!
A Bit of Fun!
See what happens when you put a megaphone on a lectern in NYC with the instruction to ‘say something nice’. I wonder what would happen if we did this in Sydney, Melbourne or the Goldie? http://blog.untitledmagazine.net/post/9327353376/what-happens-when-you-place-a-megaphone-in-the Enjoy!!
