It’s The Time for Celebration and Transformation!
Quote of the Week
“Look Doris, someday you’re going to find that your way of facing this realistic world just doesn’t work. And when you do, don’t overlook those lovely intangibles. You’ll discover those are the only things that are worthwhile ……. Faith is believing when common sense tells you not to.”
– Fred Gailey, Miracle On 34th Street, Movie (1947)
Celebration and Transformation
It fascinates me that this time of year is a time of Celebration or holy time for many faiths. While Christians celebrate Christmas as the birth of Jesus Christ, those of the Jewish faith have just celebrated Hanukkah or “Festival of Lights”, Buddhists have celebrated Bodhi Day – the day Buddha is believed to have achieved enlightenment, Muslims celebrate the holy Id al-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice, immediately following the Hajj, pilgrimage to Mecca, and the Wiccans celebrate Yule, which is where the term Yuletide comes from.
This influx of spiritual energy is remarkable. I find it extraordinary that beliefs and spiritual practices across the globe can all be celebrating within the same month, long before Outlook Calendar, Meeting Planners or Event Coordinators. It shows, to me, one of the highest of spiritual truths, beyond doctrine and creed. This passion ( love, commitment and purpose) shows us the presence of Spirit…when in the highest sense, long before the worldwide web, Microsoft and Apple (yes there was a time) when oneness speaks, we truly are connected to each other.
Perhaps that is why we have such difficulty and stress when we feel separate from those around us and life…..
Often when people conflict it is over misunderstandings, miscommunications, feeling undervalued, unloved and unappreciated, and “no one understands”. Separateness in action. “How could they do this?” is declared, then adrenal energy and defences stepped in and the strategies become… “Well that’s it! I’m not going” (flight) or “How dare they?! Boy! Am I going to teach them something!” (Fight)
When emotions are high and expectations higher it can be hard to remain centred. Though I have heard headholding and breathing can help….
Use the powerful energy of this time to take a moment in the middle of the frenzy to note down how far you have come this year in each part of your life. What were you thinking and doing this time last year that has changed? What new learnings have you gained? What unsupportive habits have you released? What are you proud of this year? Re-read your list and give yourself a High 5 and a self hug. Breathe it in and speak encouragingly to yourself, give yourself a pat on the back.
Next, take a look at the events you have planned over the next few weeks and for each event write a positive outcome you would like for each. Mostly we get what we expect from life…if you expect pain, you’ll get it, same with disappointment, stress and funnily enough love, fun, understanding, connecting, laughter and peace.
In stress we often go back into painful times from the past and expect the future to be a repeat of the pain. That’s a good time to make an appointment.
In the moment though, you can headhold and breathe and imagine a rocket in front of you. Fill it with all the old memories and stress you can feel in your body about the event. When it’s all gone, send the rocket to the sun to explode destroying the stress.
Now imagine the event going well, how comfortable you feel. Breathe it in. Repeat the exercise every time you feel the stress or upset/ angry about the event. Always finish with what you want as a positive outcome and how that would feel and write it down.
By doing this exercise it’s like re-setting your inner GPS. It’s telling your brain where you want to go instead of where you don’t.
And it helps you to BE present. You’ll hear your own inner voice more clearly and you’ll hear what the people around you are really saying and wanting. Clearer communication all round!
I have seen each of you create some amazing transformations this year. I have watched your love and respect for yourself grow as you honour Your Spirit and realize Your Truth. Bravo!
Wishing you a loving, laughter-filled and Spirited Festive Season.
Who are You Choosing to Be?
Your Mission This Week If You Choose To Accept It …
Notice how you behave at the work Christmas Party this year. Or the get together with family or friends.
Are you resenting going?
Worried others won’t like what you are wearing? Or be rude to you?
Or grumble about the gifts you give? Or the food you prepare?
All of these reactions come from a space of Fear.
And if everyone attending is doing the same you have a war-zone waiting for you.
Or you could be grateful for the opportunity to Celebrate, to share, to enJOY…
GRATITUDE opens us up mentally and emotionally. Physically we relax and spiritually it allows us to Connect. It helps us to Thrive.
How you repeatedly talk to and treat Yourself tells the brain how to talk to and treat You.
The way you talk to yourself when you are looking in the mirror comparing yourself to others.
Or pack SO much into your schedule for Fear of disappointing others or missing out, no matter how tired you are.
This repeatedly tells your brain that others are more important to You than You.
So your brain gets this message and continues to work with this programme until you ask “What do I think? What do I want to do? How do I feel about this?” and you wonder why you go blank, can’t answer the question and feel at a loss…because you are lost.
You’ve lost You. Lost listening, noticing and connecting with YOU.
Disconnected, you can then begin to think that you’ll miss out, that others are “out to get you”, that Life is a competition and you need to fight to survive…. all REACTIONS of the Survival Mode.
We’re celebrating!!
Start to Listen to Your Inner Voice
How? Start to check in with how you feel, like you would a good friend.
Start to ask what You need to enJOY each moment while you are there rather than waiting for it to be over.
As you listen and ACT on the voice of your Inner Self it becomes stronger. Your self confidence grows. Your relationships become balanced and healthier.
And it’s from that loving centred space that can you give to others. Because you now have the energy and created clearer boundaries. And others will notice the difference- and Be Grateful.
What a great Gift.
And that’s where Kinesiology/ Neuro-training and the the work I do makes it easier to make the difference… allowing You to have the energy to change Your life for the better .
It gives You the CHOICE, and that’s what Living is all about.
The Choice to BE You. A timely reminder for this Christmas and New Years’.
Wishing you a loving, laughter-filled and Spirited Festive Season,
The Lonely Christmas
When I first came to Sydney to study and work at 18 years old I found myself surrounded by others whose families – like mine- were in the country, interstate or international. I was included in Christmas’ by some of the most open-hearted and generous friends and their families and they inspired me to share the JOY so began “Orphan’s Christmas” for those whose families were away or in strife and anyone else who wanted to come along. They were simple, merry and relaxed filled with lots of wonderful stories and adventures and created some truly beautiful connections. Over the years it evolved with the kinesiology/ neuro-training ethos of moving TOWARD where you want to be and so became Christmas Connections and Celebrations, then Connections and Celebrations. Having worked in so many different industries and environments where the “Lonely Christmas” was prevalent I ask you to read this piece in last week’s “The Australian” newspaper and have a thought, nod or smile or more for those around you.
